Jesse Schell’s mindblowing talk on the future of games (DICE 2010) « fox @ fury You’re going to want to stop listening to this as soon as you hear Jesse’s Mitch Hedberg-like delivery. He’s just nervous; he gets more natural. And this talk is on a steep upward slope of goodness; the best moments are the last 10 seconds, but it just gets better and better until then. For a...

Occasionally, the bedbugs bite →
Why are there photos with that long-ass thing I wrote for The Awl about my bed bugs? Because originally it was going to JUST be photos. I actually didn’t understand until almost the entire way through aforementioned long-ass thing that the photos were of the author. I thought there was basically no chance of that, actually. I’m delighted to be wrong.

This American Life iPhone App
baileygenine: ronbailey: $2.99, lets you access all archived shows for no extra charge. I wasn’t going to care about this at all until I saw that you can browse by contributor, and listen to all of their stuff; so, for example, you can listen to all of John Hodgman’s TAL contributions so that you may be sure you have gotten his full oeuvre. Good enough for me, so I bought it,...

In about fifteen seconds of use, this replaced NetNewsWire as my iPhone RSS reader of choice. The interface is amazingly well designed—it makes every other RSS reader look ugly.

WatchWatch
charlietodd: I love that they made a 9-minute documentary about the rise and fall of a Saved by the Bell character that appeared for one episode. SBTB (or “Bell”) remains an unintentionally hyper-real window into its time, as this documentary convincingly demonstrates.

Continuity describes itself as a “puzzle platformer,” and I’d say that’s about right. I also realize I’m pretty late to the show on this one.

70-Minute Video Review of 'Star Wars: The Phantom... →
This is just an incredible piece of work. I agree with Gruber: “I know, a 70-minute long video review of The Phantom Menace sounds nutty. And, when you start the first segment, you’re going to be tempted to close the tab when you hear the guy’s voice.” But this is great. And it rewrote my thinking on the film.

baileygenine: All of you with your degrees, your great jobs, nice homes, just being put together and only a few years older than me.  It is probably one of my biggest causes of anxiety, and I’ve even told you before, most of you give me a complex.
