Lyman William Hair (via jajacks62)
This is incredibly cool. Lyman W. Hair is my great-great-great grandfather; some guy on Flickr, whose hobby is taking photographs of the tombstones of Civil War veterans, took this one.
A few things of note, none of which I knew:
- My great-great-great granddad lived to be 81. Not bad for today, to say nothing of back then.
- He appears to have been in the 49th New York Infantry; that I ever had family in New York is news to me.
- The discovery of Lyman’s wife’s name has led me to further discoveries about the family tree. I am heading down the rabbit hole here.
